Step 2: Scan the shape. Now that you have excluded what it is deadly do a brief scan of the image below...

Recognise anything? 

When scanning the images like these its good to keep an eye out for 4 key features:

• Cap Shape: Is it flat, bell-shaped, or funnel-shaped?
• Under the Cap: Does it have gills (lines), pores (sponge), or teeth?
• The Stem: Is there a ring (skirt) around it?
• The Base: Is there a sac or cup (volva) at the bottom? (Always dig it up to check!)
